Violinist Sadie Fields returns to Guelph from Belgium to join friend/pianist Ken Gee for another Musicfest ENCORE recital. But this one is going to be very special indeed.
The Roaring 20s was a decade of incredible energy and creativity around the world, particularly in Paris as well as North America. Like now, it was an amazing comeback from the great influenza pandemic of 1918 with Jazz having big influence on “Classical” music. This program concept was created by Sadie and her excitement and love for the music of the 1920s. Last year’s Roaring 20s concert was such a hit that we had to do a SEQUEL!
Canadian/British (and Brussels-based) violinist Sadie Fields is the founding violinist of the Festival Trio and the Belgium-based Flash Ensemble, a flexible chamber ensemble with a string trio as its core. She recently formed a duo with Italian accordionist Luca Piovesan, playing their Four Seasons - Vivaldi and Piazzolla program for Belgian audiences. Her most recent CD was released in June 2023 with critical acclaim, including 5 stars in Diapason Magazine. Sadie’s performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, CBC, Radio New Zealand, and stations across Europe.
Ken Gee is well known to the music community in Southwestern Ontario and the Hamilton region. He lives in Guelph and is the founder and artistic director of Guelph Musicfest, an annual music festival in its 18th season at the GYMC.
