Guelph Musicfest wouldn’t be the same without the annual performance by Festival Trio. In 2019, the trio made TWO appearances, with an encore performance in December to record its first CD. Both Paul Pulford (New Brunswick) and Sadie Fields (Brussels, Belgium) have very active concert careers. Still, they eagerly return to Guelph to join director/pianist/friend Ken Gee for the Musicfest Festival Trio.

Last year, international travel restrictions kept Sadie in Belgium, and our friend Jerzy Kaplanek stepped in to complete the trio. Thankfully, the pandemic will have eased enough by the fall that Sadie can make it to Canada this year.

The trio performs colourful and Romantic music from Spain and Russia, the riveting Shostakovich Trio in E minor (which drew a standing ovation the last time the trio performed it), and an exciting new trio by Canadian composer Derek Charke. Come and enjoy!

* Paul Pulford is unable to perform this year. However, we are fortunate to have Katie Schlaikjer (from the renowned Penderecki Quartet) join the Festival Trio
